Discretionary Management

Discretionary Management

Many of those who approach us for investment advice tend to have little or no time available to devote to the very demanding task of successfully and profitably managing an investment portfolio. Even with the luxury of time, very few are able to deploy the level of expertise necessary to realize the investment returns they aspire to.

This is where Findlay Nicolson makes all the difference. By entrusting us with limited authority to make discretionary investment decisions on your behalf, you are free to go about your normal business safe in the knowledge that we are working hard to see to it that your investment return objectives are met. This type of arrangement means we can often move far more quickly in response to opportunities that present themselves without having to obtain your authorization.

Before we can assume stewardship of your investments, it is essential that we build the most detailed picture possible of your personal circumstances. We take a holistic view of all aspects of your financial make-up including assets, liabilities, income, tax banding, existing investments, cash flow and attitude to investment risk. We need this information to help us define the extent of our authorization. This means that we can only purchase investments that are within the boundaries of your risk tolerance and asset allocation guidelines.

Our service continues right through the duration of the relationship as we monitor your portfolio and report back to you at regular intervals. This allows you to see just how your investments are performing and provides you with the opportunity to discuss areas of concern with us.

How We Invest

Findlay Nicolson employs a carefully structured and highly disciplined approach to investing. It is a method that has served our clients well over the years and one in which we continue to have unwavering faith.

We follow a well-refined investment philosophy that lends itself to the generation of favorable investment returns regardless of the prevailing market conditions.

This does not mean that we are rigid – on the contrary, we cherish our ability to adapt and change when the need arises but when we do deviate, it is never too far from the core wisdom of our fundamental investment beliefs.

Driven by Research

We rely on cold, hard and unyielding research to power our decision-making processes. We purge emotion from the equation preferring to let the purity of math and fundamental analysis form the rationale for our recommendations.
